DOT, partner agencies boost promotion of Filipino food experience

Several government agencies, namely Department of Tourism (DOT), together with the Department of Agriculture (DA), National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement (PCHM), have partnered up to boost the promotion of Filipino culinary traditions in the years to come through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed Wednesday. They also mentioned that the agreement will drive up appreciation and preservation of Filipino culinary traditions to ensure transmission to future generations. Additionally, DOT’s internal studies have shown that prior to the pandemic in 2019, foreign tourists spent 22.4 percent of their total expenditures on food and beverage products, while domestic tourists spent 8 percent on F&B expenses. A big part of shopping expenses were also spent on foodie treats and regional delicacies.
