The Republic of the Philippines is an agricultural country with a land area of 30 million hectares, 9.671 million hectare of which is considered as agricultural land. Strengthening the performance of the agricultural sector in the Philippines is the key advocacy to economic growth and inclusivity. 


Over the years, the production gains in the crops, livestock, poultry, and fisheries aided to the growth performance of the sector. In 2017, the Philippine agriculture expanded by 3.5%, an increase from 1.67% growth rate in 2014. The production gains in crops, livestock and poultry sub sectors contributed to the sector’s growth performance. The gross value of agricultural production at current prices amounted to more than EUR 8 billion which marked a 9.32% increase in production in 2017.
