The Lab on Mobility: Building an E-vehicle Ecosystem is presented by Liveable Cities Challenge Philippines and Dassault Systèmes in partnership with the League of Cities of the Philippines and Globe Telecom, with the support of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Philippines. The lab is part of our series of webinars which aims to equip cities with knowledge and insights for designing better solutions for their communities, through the sharing of best practices.

It may seem like somewhere in the distant future before electric vehicles hit Philippine roads, at a scale that is technically and commercially viable, but we’d like to start the discussion now. What will it take to build a thriving ecosystem for e-vehicles here? What types of e-vehicles should we plan for – cars, mass transit, tricycles, jeepneys, and trucks?

There are obvious benefits – less dependence on oil products, better air quality in cities, and the ability to be powered by renewable energy. But there are plenty of challenges as well – charging infrastructure, battery exchanges, local policies, and cost, for instance.

The discussion will focus on what it takes to set up an ecosystem that can make e-vehicles a reality in the Philippines. Our speakers include Art Tan, CEO of AC Industrials and Integrated Microelectronics, Inc., Freddie Tinga, CEO of Global Electric Transport, Manny Biona, Executive Director of Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines, Alan Pilz, Business Consultant of Transportation & Mobility Industry of Dassault Systèmes, and Ma. Corazon Halili-Dichosa, Executive Director of Industry Development Services of Board of Investments
