On June 17th, the 36th edition of Race Across America (RAAM) was launched, an ultra-marathon bicycle race across the United States. It is the world's toughest and longest time trial race. This year, Team David's Salon took the start 4-man mixed team representing the Philippines to cover the 5060km of this year’s edition. RAAM began in Oceanside, California, and ended in Annapolis, Maryland. Cyclists raced through 12 States, 4 rivers (the Colorado, Mississippi, Missouri and Ohio) and three major mountain ranges (the Sierra, Rocky and Appalachian).

Vanessa Hans, Managing Director of CCI France Philippines, was one of the cyclists of the first Southeast-Asian team to participate alongside Colin Pearson, Camela Pearson and Guillaume d'Aboville. Despite the crash of one of Vanessa Hans’ teammates in the first minutes of the race, the team completed RAAM in 8 days and 1 hour, thus a day before the 9-day cut-off. They finished on the podium, taking the second in their category.

This race is also an occasion to raise funds for charities. Team David's Salon committed to a foundation close to the heart of CCI France Philippines's Managing Director. The chosen foundation: France-Philippines United Action (FPUA), has been created by the Chamber after typhoon Haiyan devastated the Philippines in 2013, causing the loss of 6000 lives.
Thanks to numerous donations from French and Philippine companies, the foundation was able, in only 3 years, to rebuild two villages and provide over 200 disaster-resilient homes in Daanbantayan, Northern Cebu. Currently, FPUA is focused on building its third village which will benefit 46 families. In line with this, FPUA also developed Health and Child Welfare programs for the communities. Almost 4 years after the calamity, lots of families are still living in extremely precarious conditions. The foundation is dedicated to answer their needs in the upcoming years.
