France-Philippines United Action (FPUA) was created following the destruction caused by typhoon Haiyan in the Visayas region in the Philippines in November 2013. The French Embassy suggested that a communication and coordination structure be assembled in order to facilitate relief activities and initiatives led by the French business community in the Philippines.
Following the declared support for the projects of FPUA by the French President, François Hollande, during his official visit in the Philippines in February 2015, the structure was converted and registered as the Foundation of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Philippines in September 2015. FPUA’s mission is to allow underprivileged and vulnerable Philippine population to become economically sustainable and resilient to natural disasters and effects of climate change, by providing:
• Decent Housing: Disaster resilient homes
• Access to Healthcare (dental mission, vision, clinic, etc)
• Access to quality education (scholarships)

In partnership with local organizations, FPUA has already built two rehabilitation sites in Daanbantayan, Northern Cebu and provided disaster resilient houses to more than 1000 individuals, typhoon Haiyan’s survivors.
A third village of 46 permanent houses, is currently being completed in Bogo City, North of Cebu Island. It will benefit more than 200 victims of typhoon Haiyan still living in extremely precarious conditions in zones at risks.

The Foundation is implementing projects for the communities living on FPUA rehabilitation sites. An educational sponsorship program has been launched in June and is currently giving the opportunity to 15 high school students to access an excellent secondary education and contribute in upgrading the education level and break the cycle of poverty in their families.
France-Philippines United Action Foundation also partners with international and local organizations to implement health missions and provide free health care to the families benefiting our housing projects.
