CCI France Philippines would like to express its deepest condolence to Alliance Francaise de Manille and the family of its President Mr. Bernardo Sim, who passed away last Saturday, August 5.
President of the Alliance Française of Manila from 2003 to 2009, and then from 2012 onwards, he contributed to the promotion of French language and culture in the Philippines. Thanks to the Alliance Française, one of the oldest and most prominent foreign cultural institutions in the country, French language benefits from a positive image - English set apart, French is the first European language taught in Filipinos colleges. Then President of the Alliance Française of Manila, Mr. Bernardo Sim saw the opening of the Alliance Française of Cebu, in 2013, inaugurated by the French Prime Minister, one of the rare foreign cultural institutions in the countryside. It is with a deep sadness that our community has lost this French culture lover and devoted passionate.
Who says French culture says wine, and Mr. Bernardo Sim was as well a French wine admirer. Real expert - he had a wine license - he has presided the International Society of Wine and Food for a while.
We would like to show our gratitude for his work and his devotion to French culture promotion in the Philippines - for which he was elevated to the status of Knight in France's National Order of the Legion of Honor.
